SUSPENSION AND FRAME: The GP1 is built around an extremely tough steel tube frame in a single cradle pattern. The lower part is reinforced with smaller diameter tubes contributing to the rigidity of the whole assembly and the solidity of the footrest platform. On the right hand side, there is a bracket to support the radiator. It is placed in this position not only for protection against impact in case of a spill, and to contribute to lowering the center of gravity, but also it prevents the hot air from reaching the rider, because the radiator is placed in a high front position. The rear suspension is one of the most outstanding points in the GP1. It is a variable progressive system similar to those in sports super-bikes. The aim of this system is that the GP1 should not be sensitive to loading. The higher the load, the higher the resistance of the suspension; in other words, as the wheel moves and in consequence the suspension is compressed, the resistance gets greater. This not only results in greater comfort but it also improves manuevrability and stability. An inverted hydraulic front fork with leading axle which is stiffer and has reduced un-sprung weight, significantly increasing the precision and stability of the steering.


BRAKES: At the front, there is a 190 millimeter diameter stainless steel disc, with a hydraulic caliper. This equipment guarantees braking that is very powerful, but above all progressive. On the rear wheel, there is also a stainless steel disc with a diameter of 190 millimeters. The brake caliper is fixed floating so as to achieve a non-sinking effect while braking. In this way, when braking, the rear wheel always remains in contact with the surface. The brake tubes are covered with steel wire braiding in order to prevent expansion and so guarantee powerful braking all the time.


ENGINE: The heart of the GP1 is the 49 cubic centimeter power unit belonging to the latest generation of DERBI two-stroke engines. It is liquid-cooled to ensure constant performance and to prevent power loss due to increases in temperature. The aluminium cylinder is coated with "NI-Sl", which eliminates the risk of seizing and offers an almost unlimited lifetime. The carburetor and reed valve are direct to the crankcase giving an instantaneous response to the throttle movements. Cylinder lubrication is achieved by an oil injection pump ensuring the optimum mix at any rpm. And all this is complemented by the "Hi-Sport" exhaust system. It is a tubarro type with "cone and counter cone" and a dual exit silencer box.


FULLY EQUIPPED: The instrument panel has two dials housing the speedometer, the odometer, the analog thermometer for the water temperature, the fuel gauge, and four pilot lights: indicators, full beam, fuel and oil reserves. Under the two-piece saddle, covered with a non-slip material, there is a capacious compartment with room for a helmet or other gear. This machine also comes equipped with a full one year parts warranty.
